Sounds good Joe. Hopefully you will get home soon to take it for a drive.

The car is looking good toby. I see you used the Meguiars smooth clay kit on the car. I am sure that made a big difference in the paint finish. Keep up the good work!

Thanks everyone! The FJ cruiser is actually my dad's, I just didn't feel like moving it cuz there's construction in front of my house. I actually tried to get my dad to get a Titan but he likes the look of the FJ??? But it isn't as bad as i thought and actually feels/sounds real good. And yes that is a Meguiars Clay kit. Unlike the ScratchX the clay bar worked great and made a HUGE difference to the feel of the paint(smooth as glass). Im just trying to get it as clean as Brickyardz or close to it lol. Im gonna have to repaint the hood/bumper and get like 8 paintless door dings fixed in order to do that. Oh since I work at a place where they pay me to do whatever ill be reading/posting some posts here till I go back to school full time if you guys don't mind LOL. PEACE!

I like the look of the FJs too except the taillights. Supposedly they are good offroaders as well.

And don't bother trying to keep up with Brickyard. His devotion to keeping that car clean is unhealthy. (haha, you know it's true Rob)

honestly, the FJ is a pretty good car, better than what I thought it was but theres something about it that I just dont like. Oh and to make matters worse, its not AWD(base model???) but i did take it offroading one time and it did quite well. The interior is VERY tight for an SUV. My SpecV had more "shoulder" room than the FJ IMO. The dash is a little over the top and so is the exterior. Im not trying to put the FJ down or anything but for the money my dad spent on it, we couldve bought something better. For me, if i was to buy an suv it has to be rugged not pretty. If we could get new wheels, paint the roof to match the rest of the car, and pretty much just black everything out then yes it would look good. Or better yet trade it in for a Titan

ScratchX shouldn't be used to remove surface contaminents. It is mainly used to remove light scratches and swirls in the paint and should most commonly be used after the claybar has been used. If you have swirls or light scratches using this after the clay will make the paint even smoother. Doing your whole car by hand is tiring and will take a long time but can be done. Also keep in mind multiple applications may be necessary to remove the scratches. Don't think you can apply once and they will be gone. That is typically not the case. Also consider the amount of preasure you are applying. Initially, you may press harder but to get the finer scratches out you put in by removing the larger ones you need to apply less pressure and go over it lightly.

I used this process and multiple applications to remove scratches the body shop put in my car after working on it but after probably about 6+ passes, some with more preasure and some with less, I was able to completely remove the scratches they put in by hand.

What! I resemble that remark! Well, I don't know it's unhealthy, but the main theory is if you always clean it, it's easier in the end to maintain at that level. Having it not be your daily driver is a big key to that. Of course the wonderful weather 3/4" of the year in CA is a big help too!

Don't worry Daniel, no problem

That reminds me, time to go work on the car! I need to finish getting it back to it's old self after the crash. I need to install the chrome grill strips and fix the exhaust tip the towing company scratched up.

Yea I know ScratchX is used to remove or decrease the visibility of light scratches/swirlmarks but it never worked for my brick? I used it on my SpecV and I must say it worked perfectly with ease. I use it on my brick with some force and multiple applications and it just doesn't do anything. It doesnt even remove the smallest slightest scratches/swirls that are just in the clearcoat. Maybe its cuz of the color difference? But since it worked for Brickyardz I may give it another shot. But i dont know what else i can do differently. Im sure I did everything right the first time but ill do it again.
