CAI system and gas mileage

How folks! I'm new to this blog so if I've done something incorrectly, please let me know so I don't do it again. I'm not new to blogs in general, just this one. Want to make sure I'm in the right thread. In any case, I've been lurking and have discovered a lot of information. I've had 2 Zs and 03 Touring and now an 06 Roadster. I just had the CAI system installed on my Z several weeks ago. Just that system. I was told that I'd get more horsepower, which was what I wasn't really looking for. I was told that I'd also get better gas mileage since now the car can breathe sorta speak. I haven't seen any mention of the gas mileage you folks are getting with just this installed. It's quite possible that I'm just looking in the wrong area of this site. I'd like to know what kind of gas mileage I can expect as I haven't really such much of a change.

Thanks to all.. Jill

we usually don't mention gas milage in this forum because we are more worried about quarter mile times and blazing speeds lol... who cares about gass mileage.. when i fill up my z with 93 octane i know its becasue i do it for fun .. not to commute to work or save money because i would of bought a prius if that was the case... an air intake will do little to nothing to improve gas milage... hell it will even lessen gas milage because you will find you foot on the floor more often hahah...

I doubt there is any real change in gas milage with an intake! You wanna save on gas, get a hybrid.....

yeah..like bones said. Ever since i got my pop charger i find myself pushing it in third gear just to hear it when i should really be in fourth..i wouldn't really expect any gains from it even if you were to drive it the same. maybe an extra mile or two.

I doubt any intake will save you gas. I think its a bunch of BS. Sure it breaths easier, letting more air into the motor, only to burn with the same amount of fuel its always been putting in.

Techincally alot of ECUs now a days can make slight adjustments to the amount of fuel injected into the cylinder with any change in air intake. The more air that goes in, the more gas you need to mix with it. You do the math
