Those who went through an oil consumption test :READ!

I know some people here have been having problems with oil consumption like myself. This issue has plagued me for quite some time and I've finnally got NNA involved to figure out what the hell is going on. After going to the dealer last night again, they read the dipstick and it was 1-1 1/2 low after about 1500 miles. Another tech walks by listens to my problem and then goes and checks on any TSB's. He comes back out and asks if I've done anything to the car other than intake. I let him know of all the mods that I've done. He then asked if I've had the tranmission replaced. When I told him that it was replaced some time ago under warranty, he showed me the TSB he printed out. It stated that if the dowls aren't line up correctly when installing the new transmission it could damage some of the engine parts due to vibrations. I started to think that my problems DID start happening right around that time. WHOLY CRAP! After all this time. Now I'm not saying this is the cause for everyone but it's the most logical that I've heard so far.

So for those that have had these problems, did you get a new transmission? Install new flywheel or clutch? If the tranny was taken out for any reason and put back in incorrectly, this could be the reason why your experiencing oil consumption. Please let me know what you've had done. Anything will help my case.

I am getting my car back today after getting a new longblock installed due to the Oil Consumption problem. My car went through 1.25 qts of oil after 600 miles, so it was nice to have NNA and the dealer stand behind my car.

From what I know being that i am the new owner it has never had a tranny put in. My mods are just the standard bolt on's. Upon inspection of the bottom end there was very low compression and oil leaking into cylinder #4.

Good luck with your case.

I just have bolt on's as well and the dealer and NNA said they won't cover it. Actually what they said was that the dealer would have to diagnose the problem (which I would have to pay for) and if they found out that the issue was with a Nissan part they would fix it and reimburse me. Do you have your case# with NNA?

I can tell you that I have had my tranny replaced and have not seen any issues whatsoever. Hopefully this will help show this might NOT be the cause.

Sorry I dont but bolt ons should have nothing to do with an oil consumption issue. I lucked out and got taken care of by a great dealer rep here in Atlanta. I think having them behind me really made the difference. If your not getting what your looking for try another dealership. My bill was 8k out the door yesterday and I didnt have to spend a penny except for the initial oil change at the dealership to get the OC test started.

Keep us posted.
