light modded 350z vs 03 c5 vette
Anyone have any good races vs c5s? friend in my apartment complex has a 03 vette completely stock/auto and i absolutely pulled on him from two 40 rolls. ive got cai/plenum spacer/test pipes but i was still impressed how bad i had the v8 beat

Something is wrong with the Vette - auto or not - stock vs. stock it'll beat higher HP cars and has A LOT more tq than you - not sure how much HP, but with the 350z, the most you have is 303 at the crank for the last year. In good condition with an auto (no missed shifts happening), it should smoke you. Yes, I'm sure there is someone on the site that probably can outrun a Bugatti in their N/A Z, but I pretty much disregard some of the crazier stories. I'm sure by now they are off the no grip run-flats and a 98 C5 auto gets around 13sec flat 1/4 - haven't seen a light modded Z come within half a second of that and the Vette should be better from a 40mph roll due to traction issues from a dig. Maybe he's lost compression in some of his cylinders or needs to put some fluid in his tranny.

I don't think the vette was racing. Auto or not it just aint happening, they are much lighter and have a lot of power. Unfortunately you would need full bolt-ons to beat one of those and even then it would be a damn good race. If its a FI Z, then yea no issues at all.

read my sig.. 13.3
had a friend go to the dragstrip with an auto c5 base
he coudln't get any faster than 13.5
but reiver is very correct, depends on the driver and the mods
my mods are only popcharger, plenum, headers, exhaust, grounding wires, weight reduction

It's an auto vette, wats so hard to believe here? Im not too sure about the whole "how bad i had the V8 beat" but im pretty sure a Z with his mods can run and even beat an AUTO c5 vette.

I had one encounter with my Z with a C5...here is what happened...
I was coming onto the on ramp of the interestate in 2nd gear, and I'm guessing I was doing 35ish. Coming from the other direction was a C5 vert (nice and heavy). He gets onto the ramp right ahead of me, and I am just waiting for him...because I know he is going to try and pull on me coming up the ramp. Sure enough, I see a faint puff of black smoke (not joking, it really did burp out some carbonish smoke) and off we went. I hammered it the second I saw the smoke, and we were dead even up to 80mph.
Now...keep in mind that it was an auto (I could tell by the posture of the car) and I had my bone stock 04 Touring 6 speed.
From a dig, I guarantee he would have ate me, but from a 30-80 roll, we were dead even. Now I am guessing it was an old man out in his garage queen that needed a tune up really bad, or maybe had some stale gas...because like I said, it did puff a little bit when he nailed it.

If he was 40% into his runflats, then yes...I don't see him getting better than 13.5 secs. If he changed to Michelin Summer Sport tires, he just get at least 13 flat with the auto...easy - the runflats lose most of their grip before they are half gone...but we are talking from a roll, which is a different story than from a dig (oh and I'm talking about at my altitude....not sure what the runs are like in Denver for example)

keep in mind that the C5 vette ran 13.3 1/4 passes average, so it realyl isn;t faster in a 1/4 race than a decent driver in a 07 + 350Z.
off the line it will pull a Z, but then again, even an auto can break traction pretty easily and slow his forward roll. So, yeah I can see a 350Z with those mods taking him if the driver was not able to hook up well.
most of the stock to stockish C5s I see at the track in SD are running 13.3 to 13.8 depending on the driver. from a dig, skill has more to do with what car will beat what than how fast the car potentaily is.

an aut0 C5 vert runs to 60 in about 5-5.2 seconds and 1/4 in high 13s, so it is about as fast as a stock 07+ 350Z.
few bolt on mods and you'd beat him pretty easily on a highway roll and stock for stock as you said, you ran dead even with him. had you kept going his high drag co-efficent would have given you a bigger lead aas the very is not very aerodynamic with the top up or down.

mine is an 05 z, but not stock, only the vette was stock. Why would a 300 hp V8 in a car that weighs 3,200 lbs (from the owner's mouth himself) not contend with a 287 hp V6, with those mods, that weighs 3,200 lbs? It has nismo cold air intake, 1/2 motordyne plenum spacer, engine grounding kit, diversion plate, berk test pipes, and never been spun potenza GRIDs on it. and of course the vette was racing, he is my friend, lives in my apartment complex and we took the cars out to race lol. the reason i pulled so hard from 40 was he was at like 1500 rpm at the 3rd honk and i was at like 4500. He never gained any ground tho.

I must be the one on crack then cause I'm pretty sure C5 vettes were all day low 13 sec cars and I haven't seen anything but HR's come close to that time.

2003 C5's are rated at 350 to the crank. A decent driver will trap very low 13's/high 12's in the 1/4.

I have raced several down the 1/4 and only lost once due to spining. Most here at Ennis, tx post mid to low 13s. Not an easy track to get good times on.

Yeah, I've seen some nice 1/4 tracks and one nearby that can definitely be re-paved
