08' Mustang GT
Ok, Im at a red light with a Mustang GT next to me , I expect this guy to go But Im feeling shy and Slowly roll out when the light turns green.I go through 3rd gear Normal, The Mustang starts slow but speeds up to get alongside me.
Im in 3rd going 60 , We both go for it and I instantly pull one car length, i shift to 4th and the lead turns to about 2 cars as i can see the Gt in my side mirror. i shut it down at 107 mph because it was clear that he wasnt going to pass me.
I coasted down and the mustang stayed back. I turned right at the next light and head towards home.

That's awesome!
My friend has an 08 GT and he dropped a fortune on upgrades on it until his HP was about 380.
I drive an 05 Convertible stock.
We decided to race along this long stretch of empty road next to a farm, it's funny because off the get go I kept up with him until about 4th gear, once he hit 4th he just blew me out of the water. Not surprising though.

Nice kill! Mustangs are such a joke.
<------See Avatar.
Worst part is, I can hear what he is telling his domestic loving buddies.
"Well...he was twin turboed, and my Mustang still kept up!"

I just ran a fox body mustang the other day, the guy pulled up next to me and was cool as hell. I was not expecting that, even said at the light "I'd say to go again, but if it will go in my favor" lol. He had a 306 in there rather than a 302 along with some bolt ons. He said he had 3.90 gears so I don't know why he wouldn't think he could take me from a stop, that's probably what hurt him from a 40 roll. Gears kill them from a roll. Seemed like a nice guy though in his early thirties and the car was a clean notchback.

True story.
As much as I hate mustangs and their owners....those notchback fox bodies are like Supras.....you never know what you're gonna get.
They have relatively lightweight bodies and are easy to mod to ridiculous power levels.
A good gauge of how bad you're gonna get beat by one, is usually the width or girth of their rear tires. If a fox body mustang is wearing slicks on the street.....move on.
Anyways..back to the OP's post......08 Mustangs are for girls.

So true, I see them so much here I laugh heartily when some punk comes into the store brandishing his mod'ed 'stang like I haven't seen one before. I like the pre-retro era mustangs that are modded...LMAO j/k that's what all the losers drive around here.

Agreed, Fox bodies can get scary. I had 1 friend with a fox that is gutted, caged, tubbed, and has a modded 351 in it. Another friend wedged a 460 big block in what was a 4 cylinder Fox body. Those things are SCARY fast!
Cool part is, both of those guys absolutely loved my Z.

i raced a heavily modded superchared ~03 mustang gt (not a cobra) and i did fairly well. I was alone and he had a passenger. From 60mph he would slowly put 2cars on me but by ~150mph i was on his rear bumper. If we went any faster im sure i woulda beat him lol

typical BS guys. Mustangs are good cars. They can be a really great 1/4 car. Handling lacks, but they are good. I dont understand why everyone is bashing on them. I have driven a 2005 GT and loved it. After it was s/c'd i loved even more. They are good cars.
However, good run.

No one here is really bashing them....a lot of credit was given to them by people who know cars on here. It's just that for the money the new ones don't seem worth it. Track wise I think a foxbody 87-93 can be done up real nice. They look sick most of the time. But its just that there's so many of them out there and most of the time the drivers ruin it for them. But the same goes for the Z on some occasions

Reading this thread makes me so glad to own a Z.
It's sad how many cocky 16 year old kids drive mustangs around here.

I see more chicks driving them than anything lol. In all honesty I've driven the newer body styles and the one right before it. My uncle owned the older one and I rented a GT in Hawaii on my honeymoon to give the mustang a chance. Both were epic failures compared to the Z I drive. How is paying almost 40k for a V8 GT that barely pushes 300+ hp make it a good car. I call that for raping people because they know any American with a shred of patriotism considered buying these recently pos cars even if they upholster the seats with dog ****.

Hey dirty. Btw I wanted to let you know that our AT transmissions lose about 23 percent when transferring power. So through calculations your car is at 303 crank which means your mods did add some power. I was talking to my Dyno tuner and I remembered you had some concerns a while
