fast cobalt is on a distinguished road
ss/sc vs 350 nismo convt.

hey guys how fast are the 350 z? i raced one today it was a newer one it was yellow and a sost top and had nimso on it . how much hp do these make?
i walked him pretty good. from a 40 roll to about mid 3rd i had about 31/2 cars on him.

Edit for Grammar :

Hey guys, how fast are the 350Z's? I raced one today and it seemed newer but I'm not sure. It was yellow and a SOFT top; It also had Nismo decals on it. How much horsepower do they make? I walked away from him pretty well from 40mph to about the middle of 3rd gear. At the end of the pull I would like to think I had 3 1/2 cars on him. Not 31 and a half....

Hi, I'm not really sure how to answer. A newer one would be a 370Z... if it was a 350Z that was new... I don't really know of any yellow Z's other than ultra yellow in 05. There are 2 oranges you might be referring too which is Leman's sunset & solar orange.

So, from there we can narrow down what you were racing. Speaking of racing, the Z is a sports car. It's not meant to run quarter miles. It's decently fast & all, but it's not a 1/4 mile car. We live in the corners. Put your Cobalt up against a Z on a road course & you'd see a different picture.

You can do some searching to find out what 1/4 mile times etc a Z runs. High 13's low 14's depending on the driver or type of trans. In my opinion though, it's silly to seriously race a Z in a straight line.

Hey Ash, do not underestimate the SS/TC in the twisties, it absolutely roasted a number of more expensive cars and surprised the test group at C&D during their lightning lap, similar accolades were accorded by the writers at R&T. it seems the testing in Germany paid off. They all reported that the traditional fwd understeer was almost non-existant. The car is capable of mid 150's on top and 13's in the quarter. It is not as refined as a Z on the inside ,but it is also less expensive. The earlier SS/SC wasn't bad and acquited itself well in the first lightning lap. Both versions of Ecotec power are easily upgradeable. The TC has a dealer option that boosts it to 300hp 340tq for appx 600.00 and is fully warrantied.

My whole point was that it's not a straight line car. He wouldn't walk off a Z on a road course, but yeah there are multiple threads by cobalt owners with a hand full of posts coming on here. Hence the troll alert.

How about this... put a hot woman between a Z & a cobalt & see who pulls away with her.

Well it's sorta easy....there was never a Nismo Convertible. The car was most likely a ricer who bought it and can't drive it but put a bunch of stickers on it lol. It seems like it was driver error cause even the weight shouldn't matter. Unless your not stock this isn't true, sorry. A co-worker who had one had a GM stage 2 kit on his and he was close to me but never from a stop or from a roll could he pass me. When his car was stock I stomped him hard. I find it extremely hard to believe a stock SS cobalt put 3 1/2 cars on a Z of any year from 40mph to your third and prolly our 4th.

that is true it did, however it was still two full seconds slowe than an 06 350Z around the same track.

C/D lighting lap 2006 350Zs times was faster than the colbalt. instead of talking about how many cars the colbalt beat it is better to notice how many cars the Z beat including the lexus IS-F.

the only way your beating a Z uin any race is due to your mods, so racing a stock vert Z is pretty silly.

there are a number of modd'd Zs here most likely in your area that you could set up a race against I am sure and then see what the difference is.

racing a Z vert you have to remember it is heavier than normal by about 200 or so pounds and not as fast as the coupe.

actually I am betting that a stock HR 2007/08 Z would easily keep up with you considering they run 13.2 at the 1/4 track.

What did your baseline look like before the upgrades? Just curious. I used to be pretty active on the Saturn Redline sites. I'm going to guess that the TVS is equal to a stage 3 upgrade then? Speaking of, lord, going from 200hp on a stge1 at to 300, what size injectors are you running on that thing?

79 lb injectors, everyone needs to keep in mind that the 290 whp was on a mild tune and on a low reading mustang dyno.i think the 350 z is a awesome car me beating one was a great feat in my book .and when i raced that 350 convt nimso i also had a 300lb passenger with me and i weigh 265 and the car weighs 3000 so i think we weight was the same.if not me weighing more.

WOW this is funny!!! i was just about to post a KILL story that involved a COBALT SS TURBO! i raced him last night it was a brand new cobalt '09 with 15lb boost off the turbos. we raced from a dig and roll on. and i took him by over 4 or 5 cars. i made the mistake of leaving the traction control on both runs. however i still spanked him i gotta give it to the cobalt ss/tc tho, they are fast just not fast enough =] just out of curiosity, where are you from mr "fast cobalt"

I got to give it to you Fast @ least you know about your car. People come to the forum with a grudge & you're just wanting info, which I can respect.

Unfortunately people put stuff on their car that they really shouldn't. That was probably an 05 Z with the DE Motor like mine. 287HP & only about 230hp to the wheels. Convertibles have even a BETTER chance @ picking up women! :P

This is the cult classic of what some people do to their Z's. The guy is way off base & every regular here will prolly be annoyed with me posting this, but it's funny to watch for the 1st time. Just listen to him talk about the car.
