2.5" vs 3" exhaust

so i decided to hold off and get the spacer/pop charger later. Yesterday i ordered a 2.5" magnaflow catback. i was curious if 3" was any better for NA z cars or if it was mainly for FI / high horsepower cars. i hope i made the right choice.

3" is for forced induction.. you might lose low end power (i think) if your diameter is too big. 2.5 is a good size for NA

I hope u didn't pay no more than $497 for the magnaflow.

I installed mine & the JWT Popcharger about 2 months ago and love it.

The 2.5 piping will have more back pressure which will keep some of your low end torque. while you can make slightly higher high end numbers with 3 inch piping it can make daily driving a lil more annoying and hurt your mpg slightly.

Ive heard that certain exhaust kits are not compatible with each other and can actually hurt your performance. Is it needed for me to get some straight pipes from magnaflow and a y section to fabricate a y pipe... or can i just slap a megan racing y pipe on? I really dont want to fabricate a y pipe.. mostly because i don't have a welder so i can do it myself. The rest of my exhaust i was gonna keep magnaflow.

***EDIT****

NVM. lol i need to find headers and a y pipe that are compatible with my cat back. I am gonna get high flow cats from magnaflow.
