PS2 vs XBOX

I was looking to buy Burnout 3 and NFSU2 this weekend for my PS2. I happened to look at the XBOX versions of the games and noticed that they both had "HDTV 480" listed as a spec. What is this? Lines of resolution? I have a top of the line Toshiba HDTV. Would these games look better on an XBOX (using component inputs of course)? Would they look better enough to warrant the purchase of an XBOX? How many lines of resolution does the PS2 have (one of the original PS2s, no progressive scan output).

I've got a PS2, XBX, and GC and prefer the XBX when a game comes out for all 3 systems. The new S controller that is smaller is very nice and the XBX pushes out the best graphics plus has the best online gaming.

I'm guessing the game that has the HDTV deal on it will be super sharp ultra clear.

I have both systems and bought NFSU2 on Xbox for that very reason. 480P resolution and in game Dobly Digital surround sound. If you have an HDTV take advantage of it and get games for Xbox whenever possible. Of course you have to buy the component cables separately.

Xbox in HDTV format looks great, I have both system but I can't compare since I only bought the Xbox versions. I would go with what you prefer to play on. I get all games that are for Live for Xbox and only PS2 games that are exclusive to that system.

The only time I play my PS2 is when an exclusive game comes out for it. Like Metal Gear Solid 3, Grand theft auto san andreas, or maybe final fantasy.

One of my friends has an Xbox and a PS2. He only buys games for the Xbox now. The only thing you have to be careful of are the games made by EA. They just recently started making games for the Xbox because of consumer demand, but the really favor Sony and their games show it. The graphics on the orginal NFS were clearly much better on the PS2, that was just wrong. I only have an Xbox.

I have a PS2, Xbox and HDTV. There is simply no comparison (graphically) between the 2 systems.

And to answer the 480p question...hell yeah, go for it. 99% of all Xbox games run in progressive scan compared to like 15-20 PS2 games that do. On top of that, some Xbox games can run in true hi-def (720p or 1080i) which the PS2 cannot handle. Seeing Tony Hawk in 720p/widescreen is freaking AMAZING. If you have an HDTV, you really should get an Xbox.

Progressive Scan basically shows the entire screen all at once whereas interlaced (i.e., normal) video shows half in 1/60th of second and then the other half the next 1/60th of a second = completing the entire picture in 1/30th of a second. PS shows everything all in 1/60th of a second so your eyes don't have to fill in the pieces. It makes the video look much smoother.

I too have all 3 and always buy xbox when the games are available for all three system. Xbox = best graphics for consoles PERIOD.

I still have every game console I have ever owned. Colecovision(Oh Yeah) Atari, Nintendo,Sega,Nintendo 64, PS,PS2 and my XBOX. Love em and still play em all. Anyone know where I can get the PS2 Slim????

what sux about XBox Live is you have to pay for subscription which I think is already gay. I mean you already bought the game and have High-speed internet. Why do you have to pay a monthly subscription to a game you paid for. Thats gay IMO.

and no Halo 2 on PS2. Both systems have their top notch exclusive games. Everyone just needs to have both systems.

xbox has my vote - dolby digital 5.1 and hdtv output. Much faster processor, etc.

But teh Ps2's processor is better suited to what it does, The Xbox is more like a retarded PC.

Yeah you say retarded PC, but I just upgraded my harddrive to 200gb and bought a modchip (about $150 extra). I can pretty much do anything with my xbox now and I don't have to buy sh!t for it anymore. Just burn movies, games, and ect to the harddrive. Plus I can play all the older games with ROM emulators. I think it's the best investment I've made so far. Saved me about $1800 in the past 6 months.
