somebody tried to break into my House!
Some low MoFo busted up my back french-door. I think they tried to do it quietly, but saw another layer of glass, after breaking the first one, so he took out my screen on the master bedroom window. I guess the alarm scared him off cuz, there wasn't a visual indication that he or she entered. My badass home stereo was still intact, along with rest of my goodies. Time for a major home security upgrade - 9mm, 12 gauge + cameras etc.
I get a call from my 'Choice' Alarm company and I had them call the police to check it out, cuz nobody was home and I called my family, who were nowhere my house. No offense to all the cops out there, but I never rely on them, so I make my way home for my 50 minute drive (massive traffic). First thing I checked was MY Z in the garage. I go around the back to see my poor plants knocked around all over the place and things busted up. Thanks god nothing was missing. The cops show up 15 minutes later (took them over an hour). No report, no inpsection (oh how I love paying my TAXES!!)
Choice alarm's been good to me so far. Promptly alerting everyone, when the alarm was triggered. I had protection one Piece Of Shat that done nothing for my other 3 break ins/vadalism at my other house. It didn't even go off the last 2.
I live in a good, clean neighborhood, but there are ghettos few blocks down, like any other LA area. It could very well be middle class kids as well..

Glad you're okay and nothing serious happened. You never know if it was a doped out crackhead with nothing to lose and you're at home relaxing...
As for the police, what can I say? Pay more taxes?
When I lived in Montreal, my house was broken into and my Honda was stolen along with a lot of electronics, jewelry, clothing, sword collection, and my priceless comic books. They sent a French speaking investigator 2 days later and he did nothing.

Get a dog, still one of the best security systems available.

Glad to hear you are ok and nothing was damaged or stolen. I can see how you feel about your privacy being violated.
Agree on your decision to go with weapons and cameras.
With all due respect to the cops, the only person I trust when my family isn't around is ME.

A dog is great home security. The bigger and meaner looking the better. I have a 6 yr old rottie that is sweet as hell, very nice dog. But when you lay eyes on him, "nice" isn't what pops into your head.
Also, my wife and I both keep a little something in our night stands.

Cops are not on my list of people to send a card for christmas either. Took them 25 minutes or so to get to my wreck... and i was sent off into a ditch, glad it wasnt real bad....
If something like that happened I would be getting a glock and if anyone tried to enter my home its a 9mm to the face, shoot to kill. I wont let one of those mother ****ers live to sue me for ****ing them up when they broke into my own home.

Sorry to hear that DM. A dog is a major deterrent against break ins. A real dog, not one of those small show dogs. German Shephards, Rotts, Dobbies are all excellent if trained right.
Automatic lights are also good for night. There aren't enough cops to protect everyone in a timely manner.
As for firearms, a shotgun and handgun is great for home defense. Make sure they are secured when not at home though. I carry my Sig .45 in case I get home while they're in the act. I have a Mossberg M590A1 (8+1 rounds), Glock 22 and Sig 220 with night sights dedicated for unwanted guests. Just make sure you're comfortable with firearms and take training classes. Know how to clear a house when the odds are against you. Stay safe.

I know I'll get hammered for this.....But with all do respect, let's not forget 9-11. The same officers that you guys are talking about are the same officers that would immediately step up to save lives of anyone. No questions asked link .These are also the same people that would put their families aside to save you or your family. How many people do you know that'll take a bullet for you?
In perspective, is a house alarm a top priority for cops...No. Here in Hillsborough County, false alarms costs the tax payers 1,155,550. Yet cops still make it out there EVEN if it is a false alarm. Is an auto accident top priority? Only if there is injury and I'd be more concerned about the paramedics before the police.
Sorry to hear that you had an attempted breakin but I'm glad to hear nothing was stolen and nobody was injured.
